Hello!
It’s time for the latest issue of Inbox Brief, a design newsletter by Goodbrief.
Let’s dive in!
1) Art of the Title
A wonderful source of inspiration. Beyond just being an archive of important title screens from throughout film and television history, the site also contains articles and interviews with many directors and title designers.
2) The evolution of five of Adobe’s iconic icons
An in-depth article detailing how Adobe has changed the design of five of its icons over time in order to satisfy different requirements like dark mode and mobile interfaces.
3) Irradiation Illusion
This is an optical illusion that makes white text on a dark background feel bolder than black text on a light background. This article from CSS-Tricks explains how to compensate for this effect in CSS with variable fonts.
4) Practice Design Brief
Use this design brief for practice! Feel free to share your work on your portfolio or social media accounts.
Little Rhino is an independent store selling handmade baby clothes. Their mission is to create heirloom-quality garments that can be passed down through generations. Their core values are craftsmanship and sustainability.
The objective of this design project is to develop a visual identity and packaging system that maintains the brands small, independent character without feeling unpolished. The primary audience is expectant and new parents who are design-conscious and willing to invest in high-quality clothes. A secondary audience is gift-buyers who want to give new parents something special.
Deliver a logo, color palette, and typography system. Create a packaging example for an extra challenge. For inspiration, look at Scandinavian children's illustration, earth tones, and natural materials.
Thanks for reading this issue of Inbox Brief.
If you're enjoying it, I would really appreciate it if you would share it with a friend who you think would find it useful too.
Until next time,
Manu
